Mrs. Moyer’s Philosophy of Teaching
I don’t just give information; I try to show students the value of learning that information. I try to spark dreams when some students have none. I try to take sophomores, juniors and seniors and introduce them to possibilities for the future. All students can be valuable in society. The trick is to find where their interests lie, find the gifts they have and build on them, and find the ways to inspire them to go beyond their vision of what they can achieve. I want them to succeed and so I try to give them a glimpse of that success. I want them to excel and try to give them opportunities to feel good about themselves. I try to show them the answers to the age old questions like, "What is this good for and when will I use it?" A lot of students have "it" and either just don’t know it or were never encouraged to use it. I want to be the facilitator for them to be the best they can be, encouraging them to strive for that goal, and eventually letting fly. When they see what they can be that’s a reward for me. When they see that they have within themselves the ability to make a difference in many lives, that’s an accomplishment for me. When they see that it was all worth it to move ahead, that’s joy for me.
