Celebrating World Down Syndrome Day!
Mrs. Higgins' classes enaged in Activities of Daily Living and Social Emotional Learning by celebrating the month of March raising awareness on Differences and Disabilities! Throughout the month, the students spotlighted inclusive awareness, learning about how people see differently, move differently, look differently, the importance of including all, caring for one another and being a good friend. The month concluded with a special guest, Jackson Higgins. Jackson is a child with Down Syndrome. We learned about Jackson's amazing journey thus far, learning how his glasses help him see, his braces on his feet help him walk and how his scar on his chest helped his heart! Together, the students read a book; "Color Me Different", painted a classroom poster with our handprints and sang and danced together!
